Survival – The Long Story

Discovered as abandoned remnants of an unknown forest, these logs—once living components of a tree—were reimagined through a meticulous process of cleaning, drying, and sanding, allowing their inherent character to emerge. Natural fissures and voids were selectively filled with acrylic paint, emphasizing the wood’s unique grain, rhythm, and organic imperfections. A layer of resin was then poured across the surface, establishing a deliberate tension between wet and dry, opacity and translucence—an interplay that symbolizes balance and coexistence.

Each face of the work functions as an independent composition, offering shifting perspectives that range from geometric and organic to oriental and abstract. This transformation preserves the material’s historical narrative while reframing it through contemporary artistic intervention. The work becomes a meditation on time, nature, and creation, merging environmental consciousness with conceptual design to underscore the enduring significance of the natural world.
